Micro DataNet is Focused on Warehouse Management Implementations

One of the largest International supplier’s of Pet products who had been using core Navision for several years needed a better solution to manage their supply chain process. With a product line of several thousand products and extensive EDI requirements for over 70 trading partners, customer chargebacks resulting from shipment issues, ASN document and logistics compliance had become a real challenge to manage.

Micro DataNet implemented a complete WMS using only Navision components to seamlessly integrate the entire process.

• Extensive use of Bar Coding items and documents
• Wireless Automatic Data Collection devices to capture product information quickly & accurately
• Intensive Validation of product ordered to product picked to product shipped
• Automatic generation of all Shipping Labels & Manifests for each carrier
• Generation of all trading partner EDI documents
• Printing of all custom UCC 128 and packing labels
• All produced in one completely Unified Navision Solution using only Navision code.

Gaffney Kroese a major international supplier of electrical equipment and oil field equipment with over one million items in inventory had been using core Navision for over 10 years as they have grown from 25 users to well over 200 today. The business has expanded to 17 locations internationally.

Maintaining an inventory of that size and the complexity of International shipments required a more effective solution. Micro DatsNet implemented a Navision WMS solution that included a unique Inventory Allocation Process to ensure International shipments met targeted delivery dates as orders often included a diverse assortment of products that were required for an identified client project. The container would not ship unless the order was complete.

To expedite shipments, Micro DataNet implemented a Wireless data collection system integrated with each packing station to ensure shipments destined for overseas delivery were accurate and all documents were compliant.

Given the success of the NJ WMS solution GK has decided to roll out the solution to several other distribution sites to gain the fulfillment advantage.

Dynamics NAV specifically features:

• Directed pick and put-away processes, support for Automated Data Collection Systems (ADCS) and a variety of item-tracking options, including First Expired, First Out (FEFO) handling
• EDI and E-Ship, uniquely embedded in a single system to provide Total Access to Data ? with a common user interface for all day-to-day functions, from the EDI order to shipment, Advanced Shipment Notice (ASN) and invoice
• Item tracking using lot or serial numbers to reduce waste and limit expired inventory with support for FEFO handling
• Item costing including inventory, work-in-process (WIP) and cost of goods sold (COGS). These costs can be sorted by materials, capacity, subcontracting and overhead costs to tighten control of closing processes, improve batch job costing and streamline reconciliation with the general ledger
• Shipping agent management linking shipping agents to specific services
• Returns management to easily process returned inventory and account for additional costs
• Cycle counting to determine the counting frequency per item or stock-keeping unit (SKU) to help increase inventory accuracy and meet shipping deadlines
