With a major presence in the retail market with over 80 trading partners and thousands of local pet distributors, They were experiencing increasing demands from their EDI partners and extensive chargebacks for shipping issues was affecting the bottom line.
With a diverse product line of several thousand SKU’s with multiple shipping configurations for the larger retailers, inventory management and EDI compliance became major challenge. Significant expense was incurred relating to non- compliant EDI transmissions, wrong product shipments and labeling issues.
Since many of their products are consumable with raw materials coming from many sources, it is mandatory that each item be carefully lot tracked. The existing manual system was not capable of capturing and verifying the accuracy of the lot tracked item.

Best Route Picking Automation – 50 ADCS hand held scanners have been deployed to empower the warehouse employees to use the most efficient picking route based on a number of defined criteria. Pick tickets are directed to employees where they can create pallets using 2D bar codes to automatically track items and the assigned lot numbers.
Automatic Shipment Integration – As the pallets are completed, the employee performs one bar code scan to close the boxes and pallets, produce the carrier shipping labels, customer specific UCC 128 labels, packing list and simultaneously update Navision with shipping charges and tracking information.
Advanced EDI integration – As the shipping function is being finalized, the Advanced Shipping Notice information has been populated for EDI and all verifications confirming that shipments match pallet contents is executed.
